MUKTI MISSION

Mukti-A place of transformation and empowerment.A Non Governmental Organization committed to the Empowerment of Destitute Women and Children.‘Mukti’ the Marathi word which means freedom, liberation and salvation was founded in 1889 in Pune, where it is popularly known as Pandita Ramabhai Mukti Mission, after its founder Pandita Ramabhai.
Mukti is a Christian mission which is taking action to bring about hope, and a positive future, to girls and women in India who are devastated and shattered by social conditions beyond their control. Its main aim is to transform lives through a range of initiatives that demonstrate in a practical way, the love of Jesus Christ.
For 120 years, Mukti Mission has been caring for women and girls in India lifting them out of destitution, degradation and desperation and they return back later to their communities transformed and empowered to break the vicious cycle of poverty and desperation.
It is amazing to see how God has faithfully fulfilled His promise of bestowing a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of despair through the faith of His chosen vessel, Pandita Ramabhai.Till today, the ongoing work of renewing, rebuilding and restoring hundreds of broken and wasted lives is being carried on.
As a testimony of God’s faithfulness, Mukti Mission pioneered by Pandita Ramabhai still stands as a beacon of hope before the many desperate women and children of India who still come to seek refuge, care, shelter and security and in turn, get transformed and empowered to be salt and light in the society.
